get a cat and read aloud
the art of reading aloud has disappeared. silent reading takes over once children stop reading picture books and move onto chapter books. Verlyn Klinkenborg wrote this great editorial in the new york times today. read it aloud. if you are in a public place and are emberassed, you have a few options:
1) hold your cellphone up to your ear. they’ll think you are having a conversation
2) read softly
3) most likely, people will have ear buds in. you’re safe
